The certMILS consortium got a paper accepted at this year's IEEE ICPS conference, which was organized as a full online event due to Covid-19 restrictions. One of the editors, Holger Blasum from partner SYSGO, presented the findings in a special session entitled "Security certification experience for industrial cyberphysical systems using Common Criteria and IEC 62443 certifications in certMILS". Cybersecurity Standardization Conference 2021

certMILS technical leader Sergey Tverdyshev (SYSGO AG) was invited to speak at this year's TOOL 50+1 conference in the Innopolis IT-only university in Kazan, Russia. The topic was “Design and Assurance for Cyber-Physical-Systems” with focus on how to use design methods and technologies to ease assuring mixed-critical systems.

      International Common Criteria Conference (ICCC)

Partner atsec gave a talk at this year's International Common Criteria Conference hosted by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA). The presentation was entitled "The Common Criteria and IEC 62443" and attended by around 40 listeners joning a parallel session related to Common Criteria security evaluations.

The certMILS project was successfully presented at 29th European Safety and Reliability Conference in Hannover. The European conference organized by The European Safety and Reliability association and Leibnitz University of Hannover hosted experts from all over the world. Our project was successfully represented at this conference by University of Rostock, who presented its "Integration Approach for Communications-based Train Control Applications in a High Assurance Security Architecture" and an updated project poster. The architecture explanation and the implementation approach of their demonstrator had been published to the RSSRail conference and was acknowledged with the Best Student Paper Award to PhD student Thorsten Schulz.

Collaborative results from the certMILS project on “A Compositional Certification Methodology for a COTS-based system” were presented by Alvaro Ortega (Epoche and Espri) and Sergey Tverdyshev (SYSGO) at the International Common Criteria Conference, which is the leading forum for the community of professionals involved in Common Criteria (CC). In this talk participants learnt on how to proceed with security certification when designing a system consisting of multiple COTS components in a compositional way.

Common Criteria Users Forum Meeting

certMILS will host a session on Separation Kernels to discuss the Essential Security Requirements (ESR). The Common Criteria Users Forum includes vendors, testing laboratories, national schemes, policy makers, and other interested parties. As a preparatory step towards a protection profile for separation kernels and similar systems, the certMILS project prepared an Essential Security Requirements (ESR) document. To discuss the ESR, as well as the topic of separation kernel protection profiles in general, certMILS will host a session on Separation Kernels on the at the Common Criteria User's Forum in Trondheim/Norway.
